December 1, 2020
Dear Residents and
Families,
The purpose of this letter is to communicate updates regarding our covid-19
reporting and the actions we continue to take to combat and protect our
community.
Due to the Covid results
we obtained from last week’s testing and we reported to you on November 29, we tested
all residents on Monday, 11/30, using our POC Rapid Test.
I am pleased to report
that all residents who tested negative for Covid last week did so again on
Monday, 11/30.
We will maintain
transmission-based precautions on the C1 unit due to a known exposure to Covid
from our staff who tested positive last week. Residents on the C1 unit will not
be able to have visitation until the transmission-based precautions are lifted.
I am also pleased to
report that there are no new signs/symptoms amongst are residents who tested
negative for Covid last week and Monday.
York County’s positivity
rate has increased to 12.2% in the last week. A positivity rate >10%
requires our facility to test all staff twice weekly and residents weekly.
On Wednesday, November
25, the Commonwealth updated the travel restrictions/expectations in an effort to
stop/slow the spread of Covid. Hanover Hall staff will be held to this
expectation and we will also need to impose this travel guidance to all
visitors.
Latest Guidance At A Glance
- The Secretary of Health issued an order requiring travelers
over age 11 entering Pennsylvania from locations outside the
Commonwealth, including Pennsylvanians who are
returning home from locations outside the Commonwealth, to
produce evidence of a negative COVID-19 test or place
themselves in travel quarantine for 14 days upon
entering, unless they
receive a negative test result during the 14-day travel quarantine period.
- If someone cannot get a test or chooses not to, they
must quarantine for 14 days upon arrival in Pennsylvania.
- This does NOT apply to:
- Individuals traveling to and from the Commonwealth for
the purposes of work.
- Individuals who are returning to the Commonwealth
after traveling outside the Commonwealth for less than 24 hours.
- Individuals traveling to and from the Commonwealth
for medical reasons, including individuals providing comfort
and support to a patient.
- Military personnel traveling
to the Commonwealth by order or directive of a state or Federal military
authority.
- Individuals in transit through the
Commonwealth to another destination, provided that the time
spent in the Commonwealth is only the amount of time necessary to
complete the transit, make use of travel services, such as a highway rest
stop, or make necessary travel connections.
- Individuals traveling to comply with a court
order, such as child custody, or other exemptions issued by guidance.
- This order takes effect on Wednesday, November
25.
- View the amended Order of the Secretary of the Pennsylvania
Department of Health for Mitigation Relating to Travel.
The commonwealth also
sent out a statement on Wednesday, November 25, encouraging everyone to
download the Covid Alert PA app. I have attached that statement below for your
information.
The COVID
Alert PA app is a critical
tool in our fight against the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Residents, families,
and staff with a smartphone should be encouraged to download this free app.
After downloading COVID Alert PA, users can opt-in to receive alerts if they
have had a potential exposure to someone who tested positive for COVID-19. It
can help reduce the risk of unknowingly spreading the virus to family, friends,
coworkers, residents, and the larger community. COVID Alert PA protects your
privacy and personal information. It uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology
to detect if users are in close contact with another app user. (This is the
same technology that smartphones use to connect to wireless headphones or a
vehicle.) The app does not use GPS, location services, or any movement or
geographical information, and it will never collect, transmit, or store your
personal information and is completely anonymous.
Since the start of this
pandemic and as of 12/1/2020:
- We have 6 active positive covid-19 residents in-house.
This is an increase of 0 since last reported.
- We have had 11 residents expire who all had tested
positive for covid. This is an increase of 0 since last reported.
- We have had a total of 37 positive residents since the
start of this pandemic. This is an increase of 0 since last reported.
- We have had 17 positive employees since the start of
this pandemic. This is an increase of 0 since last reported.
- 5 employees currently home in self-quarantine due to
known exposure, awaiting results, or positive for Covid. This is an
increase of 1 since last reported. All doing well.
We have and will
continue to test our residents, who show any signs/symptoms. We believe this is
in the best interest of our community. We are still very vigilant in our focus
to protect and achieve the mitigation that we have achieved previously.
We appreciate your
continued prayers and trust in the care and services we provide and for your
understanding and support of any necessary adjustments as this situation
evolves.
Please feel free to

concerns.
May God bless us all.
Respectfully,
Daniel Pyle, LNHA
