For residents, since last reported, we have confirmed through rapid testing 11 residents with presumptive positive Covid. For staff, since last reported, we have confirmed through rapid testing 3 staff with presumptive positive Covid. All staff and residents with presumptive positive results were swabbed a second time using our PCR test and these results are pending confirmation.   December 17, 2020    Dear Residents and Families, The purpose of this letter is to communicate updates regarding our covid-19 reporting and the actions we continue to take to combat and protect our community.  On December 14 we informed you that there were 3 residents who tested presumptive positive utilizing the POC rapid test. All 3 residents were swabbed a second time utilizing the PCR test. Results were obtained and 2 of the 3 residents were confirmed positive for Covid. These residents reside on our B2 unit. All residents are doing well, and their families were notified. Today, following POC rapid testing on the B2 unit, we identified one resident having presumptive positive results. This resident room will remain on transmission-based precautions while the remaining rooms on this unit will come off isolation precautions on Monday, 12/21. We will notify the families on B2 when precautions are lifted, and visitation may resume. Early last week we lifted transmissio
December 14, 2020    Dear Residents and Families, The purpose of this letter is to communicate updates regarding our covid-19 reporting and the actions we continue to take to combat and protect our community.  On our December 8 update we informed you that we had 5 presumptive positive residents and we were waiting for their PCR test to confirm or deny the rapid positive test. The results took an extended period of time to receive and all 5 presumptive positives were confirmed as positive for Covid. This delay in second results did not change our original course of action, treatment, or residents’ time under transmission-based precautions. All 5 residents are doing very well. Between the end of last week and this weekend, we have identified an additional 3 residents who tested presumptive positive utilizing the POC rapid test. All 3 residents were swabbed a second time utilizing the PCR test and these PCR tests have been sent to our epidemiology lab for confirmation. Th
December 8, 2020    Dear Residents and Families, The purpose of this letter is to communicate updates regarding our covid-19 reporting and the actions we continue to take to combat and protect our community.  Last Thursday, 12/3, we were notified on one staff member testing positive for Covid from our staff testing date of 11/30. This employee is home on self-quarantine and doing well.   Last Friday, 12/4, prior to sending a resident out to UPMC, we performed a POC Rapid Covid test. The result was presumptive positive for Covid. The reason for sending the resident to UPMC was unrelated to Covid and the presumptive positive result. As a result of this one presumptive positive covid result, we performed a POC rapid test on all remaining residents on the same nursing unit, B1/A1. The result was an additional three presumptive positive results. These three residents were moved to subacute and placed on transmission-based isolation. The roommates of these 4 presumptive posi
